Just found this show a few weeks ago my wife and I have been totally hooked on it. Love the humor and thought provoking look of the afterlife, and I admit some of the episodes have gotten me a bit choked up. I have now started on Desert Skies Fm and hopefully will be able to start on Game Night as well. Love Mac and Tendy and have really grown fond of Corson. Keep up the awesome work.

I'm so glad you and your wife are enjoying it together and I hope you like the FM and Game Night! Appreciate you taking the time to sign the guestbook, Joel!

Found the show yesterday and finished it today... Trying to pace myself with the accompanying FM show but who knows how successful I'll be! Just wanted to stop by and let you know how meaningful it's been for me to hear Mac and Tendy tell me that life is better with me in it. I spent most of my life wanting to leave this plane, and although I made my choice two years ago to stay alive, and have lived long enough to be glad I made that choice, I still carry a big ole heap of sad, as Mac would say. So I wanted to thank you for making this show. Thank you for sharing something so personal and so important with us. P.S. the bit about how driving does something to a human soul, and we're not sure what it is, but it's a good thing: I felt that deeply XD. I love driving, especially infinite roadtrips through beautiful and dangerous spheres.

Hey! Thank you so much for reaching out and sharing that. I'm really glad you found the show and I'm so glad you're still here on this plane and made that choice two years ago. It's a well-known facts that the staff of Desert Skies would not appreciate us showing up early

I need more Soliloquies from Mac (or is his name Mech?) about the desert life. Some gentle poetry to help me fall asleep at night, maybe a nature documentary style commentary. His voice and humor reminds me of the character Gamzee from the webcomic Homestuck.

I love Mac rambling about stuff. You can be sure it'll happen over and over and over again over time. I'll have to check out Homestuck!

Found this podcast and listened to it while at work. Definitely love the story and looking forward to season 2. How did you compose the music for this podcast? I'm wondering about the chiptune music used in the arcade game "Save the Astral Plane" at the very beginning of episode 5. Very intriguing and I'd love to learn more about your process for writing that piece as well as the other music!
Admin Reply by: The Attendant
So glad you liked it! The majority of the background and such music is licensed from other sources, but some are written and composed by me. The lyrics for all songs sung by cast are always written by me. Save the Astral Plane was made by me with my son on guitar, as is Remember Who You Are. For save the Astral Plane, I used garage band. In termsI'll listen to hundreds of tracks just to find a piece of music that's 10 seconds long and fits in the right place. Much of it is meant for corporate events and stuff so it's like looking through the bargain bin at a store trying to find the rare record they missed. Hopefully that helps

I love the show. I am anxiously awaiting your new season. I applaud you for doing this on your own. Creative idea.. beautiful storyline just enough laughs its not to heavy and not too light and shit, i do so love a good story. You are doing great embarking on this road alone.. with the characters you write. Wish you the best and may your muse stay ever present. Can we have a few more deep introspects from Mac. Its kind of relaxing hearing him do those deep soul reaching whispers reminding us Neither life nor death has to be scary.
Admin Reply by: The Attendant
I don't know when or how, but most definitely will have Mac wax poetic about death, life, and all and such. I really appreciate you taking the time to leave such a kind note!

i love desert skies, interesting stories and a followable story line, and i love the characters to death, (and it helps me fall asleep...). i found desert skies through recommended podcasts from midnight burger. i didnt expect to get hooked and listen to it all within 2 days...whoopsie! i guess that just goes to show how immersive it is. maybe its called the astral plane because it's out of this world. thanks for existing...in the physical plane or not.

So glad you enjoyed the show and as always, so glad it's able to serve as a sleep aid. Hopefully it results in some good dreams. Thank YOU for existing and for all your kind words

Love, love, love Desert Skies. Found through Midnight Burger and so happy that I did. The story is wonderful and the voice work is absolutely amazing! Thank you so much for sharing this podcast with us. Looking forward to the new episodes!

I found this show through a combo of Midnight Burger and two close friends. I listened at a pace that has now left me bereft. It is beautiful, heart-felt and accepting of others, even when they seem like the villain. 10/10, no notes. But now, on to the real reason Iโ€™m hereโ€ฆ WHERE DID YOU DIG UP THIS 1999 ANGELFIRE NOSTALGIC SHRINE!?!? I shall elaborate my awe in the following bullet points:
  • Starry background
  • Animated TeXT
  • โ€Neonโ€ GIFS
  • Joyfully disorganized fanart section
  • FRAMES? I had forgotten about frames. When was the last time someone asked me if I needed to break out of them?
  • An honest-to-God functioning guestbook that requires basic HTML knowledge to make lists.
I love everything about this site. And Desert Skies.

I hate admitting stuff like this, but this...this website...well...it's a time machine. You can only see it if you stumble upon it after being recommended by MB and two friends (the perfect combo). When you look at the screen, it is 1999 (and the internet is faster for some reason) and the moment you look away you're back in the bad times. Please visit as often as needed. Thanks for liking my show

I've just started listening to this podcast and I am in love with the vibes. Super chill, silly but sincere, and the music! 😍 I hope you're keeping well and remember to stop by the rock labyrinth from time to time.

I will stop at every rock labyrinth I happen by. So glad you're enjoying the show, Angela!

I discovered this podcast like three days ago and almost binged whole season. I still didn't finish that but I am so invested. I love the idea of the place in-between first and second life to be a roadtrip. And the music is so, so lovely! I was dreaming of a longer roadtrip with the same kind of music, or similar, so it just fits perfectly. The setting is incredible, I can feel the place, I can see scenes, I can almost smell it. And I absolutely adore the characters. And the story is so good! It even made me cry. Thank you for making it.

So glad you found it and that you're enjoying it! There's going to be more coming soon in '24!

I'm absolutely loving Desert Skies; I came here by way of Midnight Burger, and in my headcanon they exist in the same universe(s). I'm endlessly impressed by your voice acting talents โ€” all the voices you do are so unique, and I have absolutely cried more than once. Thanks for such a lovely story in such an incredible setting. Podcasts like this are really quite precious to me.

So glad you found the show and I heard there's a skylark floating in space in MB so we may just be in the same universe! Thank you so much for the kind words and for appreciating the show so much

Discovered you're lovely podcast(s) from a feed drop on Midnight Burger. I'm so happy I took the time to check it out. I was immediately hooked and binged it all in two days. Life has been a bit difficult lately and I think your podcast was something that I really needed to hear. You're work is beautiful, funny and quite touching (I may have cried more than once and definitely laughed out loud more than once). Thank you so much for all that you do. P.S. My dad makes a mean green chili & shredded chuck roast burrito. So I'd probably be that. Let me know if you want the recipe ๐Ÿ˜‰
Admin Reply by: The Attendant
I'm so glad MB led you this way, and that listening to it was helpful. You have no idea how much I love hearing that so thank you for taking the time to share. Your dad must be a pretty great guy because he sounds like one of those who loves people through making good food. Good food dads are the best

I'm planning a Meow Wolf road & camping trip though the American desert with my siblings and a close friend of mine. In doing so I have been looking for Sci Fyi audio dramas that give the same vibe to listen to on the road. Happy to say I found THE ONE. I'm going to subject them all to this with glee. Hopefully I can also get them to tell me what kind of burrito they think they might become. For me, I think I'm Creamy Crawfish Etouffee. Or maybe a Lox Bagel with extra avocado and cucumbers. Not that I would turn back, but if I did, the one thing I know for sure is that my burrito would have a heavy carb and creamy base with seafood of some kind. Question: the 1987 Buick Skylarks that come through, are they all different colors or identical? If they are different, what color is the Skylark that HueHue did donuts in?
Admin Reply by: The Attendant
Perfect for a trip to Meow Wolf! Not gonna like, I'm a little jealous. Hope your siblings like the show and allow you to remain part of the family tribe, and also that they tell you their favorite burrito flavors. But, remember. If they don't, it just means you're cooler than them

I am in love with the universe you have created here! It has helped me to come to terms with so much, from the loss of both of my parents to the horrifying reality that we all die. Thank you for making this. I hope when I die, I get a chance to stop by desert skies to grab a burrito and a warm blanket for the long ride home.

Thank you so much, friend. I'm glad it's brought you comfort and I'm so sorry for your loss. You're always welcome at the station, but please, take your time getting here

I'm screaming I've just listened to the first episode and I'm already obsessed! I've found this podcast off of tumblr and just the characters the vibes are immaculate. So... so many microwaveable burritos...

Just finished the day of writing this and I loved every second of it. I'll probably go through it several times! (Gets the imagination pumping!) It was a great story and I hope for more! The story building is so well made! It has also helped me with the thoughts of the afterlife. Very comforting :] PS: I probably wouldn't turn back but I would probably be a Chicken Alfredo Burrito <3
Admin Reply by: The Attendant
Thanks for the kind words, friend! And a Chicken Alfredo Burrito is already in the freezer, but maybe you could be that fancy Cajun version of chicken Alfredo that they have at the Cheesecake Factory
